0800 hrs Monday 22nd
ThrustSSC will be rolled out at 1100hrs for two more runs. Media wishing access to the Press Area opposite the
measured mile should present themselves at Access 2 at 1000hrs.
1800 hrs
Residual engineering items took longer to complete than expected, and a minor hydraulic leak has caused further
delays - with the two runs scheduled no longer possible in the time available, they have been postponed until
tomorrow. Details of timings will be posted here as soon as they are available.
1345 hrs
ThrustSSC will run again at 1600hrs.
1000 hrs
Spirit of America has made a second run today - mile average was 374mph.
The first run was 348mph (please note that this is unoffical).
0900 hrs
Spirit of America has made another run. Speed as yet unknown.

- ThrustSSC has reached a peak speed to date of 624mph on Friday 12th September 1997
- The car is on the desert being prepared for the next runs of the Black Rock Campaign
Team
- The ThrustSSC Team are settled into life in Gerlach and on the Black Rock Desert

- The desert is dry for some 15 miles and the 13-mile course is good
- 20 tracks have been surveyed
- Tracks 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 have been used
- Track 3 has been used from Mile 0 to Mile 12, and has been lined and fodded from Mile 12 to Mile 13
- Track 5 has been used from Mile 0 to Mile 7, and has been lined and fodded from Mile 7 to Mile 13
- Tracks 6 and 20 have been lined and fodded from Mile 0 to Mile 13
- Track 19 has been fodded from Mile 0 to Mile 13 but needs lining
- Tracks 1 and 2 have been lined from Mile 10 to Mile 12.5
- Track 18 has been lined from Mile 9 to Mile 12.5
Weather
- The weather is generally cool a light breeze. Occasional dust storms are being kicked up by higher winds.
Afternoon temperatures can reach the 80s (Fahrenheit).
