Individual Status Reports

Car

1. ThrustSSC has achieved a peak speed of 540mph during the Jordan2 trials
2. Repairs are underway to slight damage to the rear suspension after a bracket failed on the last run:
   • The old brackets have been cut out
   • The new brackets have been designed, subjected to Finite Element Analysis, manufactured, and have been fitted
   • The rear suspension is now being refitted
3. New wheel fairings are being manufactured and fitted
4. Numerous details are being improved

Team

1. The ThrustSSC Team are hard at work preparing for Black Rock
2. Runs Controller Jayne Millington is due back from service in the Falkland Islands this week
3. Andrew Noble is in Gerlach making preparations for the team's arrival

Equipment

1. All the equipment has now been cleaned, checked and prepared for further use
2. The interior of the Pit Station has been modified in light of the experiences of Jordan2
3. A new entrance awning for the Pit Station is being manufactured to reduce dust ingress on the desert

Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA

1. Andrew Noble is now on site preparing for the team's arrival at the end of August
2. The desert is dry for some 15 miles and the 13-mile course is good
3. An inspection of the desert found 1 stone in 25 miles of driving. It was picked up.

Web Site

1. Accesses are currently running around 200,000 a week
2. The programme to streamline production of the Web Site has gone well
3. The backlog of background information for the Web Site is slowly being cleared
