Project Status - Al Jafr, Jordan - 6th June 1997
The ThrustSSC Team are returning from Jordan after reaching 540mph during high-speed testing of ThrustSSC.

Individual Status Reports
Car
- ThrustSSC has achieved a peak speed of 540mph during the Jordan2 trials
- Repairs are required to slight damage to the rear suspension after a bracket failed on the last run
Team
- The ThrustSSC Team are returning home over the next few days
Jafr Desert, Jordan
- The desert track has been cleared
- The Desert Pits are now being packed for return to the King Feisal Air Base and on to England
Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA
- The Heads of Agreement with the Spirit of America team for this autumn's head-to-head race has been signed
- Negotiations with the Bureau of Land Management are underway for the operating permits
Weather
- Mornings are now getting hot very early
- By mid-morning it is extremely hot with a light breeze and clear skies
- In the afternoon the wind picks up, but the temperatures remain high
- Occasional dust storms are expected
Jeremy Duck
... is planning on hitching a lift home in the Antonov instead of flying back under his own steam.
