Car
- ThrustSSC has made good progress to a peak of 430mph
Team
- The Jordan2 operations team are finding the heat difficult but are in good spirits
Jafr Desert, Jordan
- The Jafr Desert, Jordan, has dried well after the winter floods and is now usable. The surface is generally better than 1996.
Hardness is currently 14 or better on the California Bearing Ratio scale.
- The tracks have been surveyed and the white lines are being painted with 'jir'
- The Bedouin crossing tracks are being repaired
- Track 1 is ready for use from Mile 0 to Mile 8.5
- Track 10 is ready for use from Mile 0 to Mile 10
- Tracks 8 and 9 are complete from Mile 0 to Mile 7
- Tracks 11 and 12 have been fully used
- A new record of 13 track miles in one afternoon was set yesterday. No-one is entirely certain why (or how!) the fodders
sprinted to the finish...
Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA
- The Heads of Agreement with the Spirit of America team for this autumn's head-to-head race has been signed
- Negotiations with the Bureau of Land Management are underway for the operating permits
Weather
- Early mornings are cool and still
- By mid-morning it is very hot with a light breeze and clear skies
- In the afternoon the wind picks up, but the temperatures remain high
- Occasional dust storms are expected

- Finish fitting of the two newly-delivered Spax dampers to the rear wheels in addition to the existing two
- Prepare for runs to 500mph and 550mph tomorrow

- Continue fodding of track 8 and 9 between Mile 7 and Mile 8.5
- Start fodding of tracks 3, 4 and 5
- Complete white lining
- Finish repair of Bedouin crossing tracks
