Career: | I joined the RAF as a Direct Entry Technician in February 1987 and after 14 months trade training I was posted to RAF Wattersham where I met Radar (Ian Dennington). In 1992 I was posted to RAF Brize Norton, moving to RAF Cottesmore in December 1996. |
How did you get involved in the project? | I joined the Mach 1 Club and was able to spend 6 weeks in September 1995 building panels for the car at G-Force. |
Responsibilities in the UK: | As I am posted a long way away, I have to spend a week at a time working on the car. |
Responsibilities in Jordan: | Like Radar I was not able to go to Jordan. |
Responsibilities in the US: | Any sort of general work which needs to be done, as well as being part of the Supacat team. |
Previous crazy ventures: | I am qualified to teach jet-ski and canoeing. |
Car: | Ford XR2i to be sold on return to the UK for a Ford Cosworth. |
Favourite Music: | Heavy Metal, rock. |
What sort of books would you read if you had the time? | Action adventure. |
Hobbies: | Rugby league. I'm also part way through and HNC in Aeronautical Engineering. |
What do you want to do when the project is over? | Go back to work. When I leave the Air Force I would like to join a precision engineering or F1 team. |
What have you learned from this experience? | The cameraderie of a complete engineering team working within the commercial environment. Also the ability to develop my "imagineering" skills. |
