Career:

Studied Computer Science at Cambridge University. Then wrote computer systems for the Trident submarine program. Got asked to move to Dallas and consult - so I did that for two years. Now doing sales support for Sterling Software.

How did you get involved in the project?

I wrote to Richard Noble and volunteered! Then he said he needed someone to do the Web Site, I told him I knew all about it (which I didn't) and went out and bought the book!

Responsibilities in the UK:

I run the Web Site and the satellite communications which includes the phone, fax and data to the UK. I also drive the trucks.

Responsibilities in Jordan:

Web Site, Satellite communications, trucks, stand-by Merlo driver, press escort for the BBC crew.

Responsibilities in the US:

The same - except for the addition of driving the Merlo during operations.

Previous crazy ventures:

Driving vintage trams in downtown Dallas, Texas.

Car:

BMW 325

Favourite Music:

Anything, but not rap. Absolutely not rap.

What sort of books would you read if you had the time?

Mysteries, Thrillers, Wartime, and books on technology.

Hobbies:

Motorsports, fell walking, music, computers (including the Internet!) photography and steam trains.

What do you want to do when the project is over?

Get my life back. Get my fitness back. Catch up on family and friends. Finish my microlight lessons. Oh, and some sleep would be useful!

What have you learned from this experience?

  1. Don't ever say "Yes" to Richard

  2. Stay calm at all times - it won't seem as bad tomorrow (won't it - Ed??)

  3. If a journalist says they must have something NOW, it's because they haven't done anything about it until the last minute

  4. Keep smiling:-)

  5. Life is about doing - not about wanting to
