Two parts of DERA are contributing to the ThrustSSC project:
The Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) is the largest research organisation of its kind in Western Europe and is a Centre of Excellence for science, technology and evaluation.
The role of DERA is to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained in support of UK defence. DERA fulfils its role by managing the world class science and technology assets it controls to produce the best solutions at the lowest cost.
DERA provides the highest level of operational studies and analysis, through the various categories of basic and applied research, to consultancy on the procurement process and the test and evaluation of specific equipments, often in the operational evironment.
The quality of the research carried out is such that many of our discoveries and inventions find important civil applications with rewarding commercial consequences. Our aim now is to facilitate an even greater transfer to industry of frontier technologies developed by DERA.
