Start around 15th July - complete first week August.
Al Jafr is a small village with the Royal Jordanian Air Force base situated some 50km east of Ma'an which is some 200km south of Amman. The desert site lies to the east of the village and is accessible via a rough track. The track and central viewing area will be signposted and marked. The team will be living on the air base but access is restricted and only available with special permission. Desert temperatures will be very hot (35/38C) consequently hats, water, and sun protection are essential.
It is planned to trial the car every day though trials are dependant on serviceability and weather. Generally the runs will be at first light each morning and in the evening. Please remember that the car does not run unless serviceability and conditions are right.
Daily updates will be available via the Amman hotel link and via the internet at http://thrustssc.digital.co.uk. On arrival please follow the marked track to the central viewing area and make contact with team members at the control truck who will look after you . The car will normally come to the viewing area after runs. It may be possible to arrange a hangar visit.
Nearest accommodation to Jafr is Petra (90 mins by road) where there is a wide choice of modern hotels, the Movenpick being recommended. Amman is 3 hours by road from Jafr and there we are working with the Forte Grand Amman Hotel (Tel: 962-6-6965 11 and Fax: 674261). They will have daily news available and will be running a bus tour to the trials for sponsors.
Royal Jordanian and British Airways fly to Amman.
