MICROCADAM has provided several of copies of their MICROCADAM 2D CAD system to the Thrust SSC design team. MICROCADAM was chosen as the project's basic design technology because of its excellent portability. Having a PC-based package meant that information could be shared quickly and easily between members of the design team. The software was loaded onto notebook PCs which allowed members of the widely scattered design team to pass CAD information to one another on floppy disk. Thus MICROCADAM provided a standardised communications system. This has been essential to ensuring adherence to the overall design timetable.
