Clarkson Osborn International of Sheffield, England are the supplier of precision engineers cutting tools to the THRUSTSSC project.

CD33 cobalt drills were used to 'sandwich' the aluminium inner skins to the stainless steel outer along with the thermal insulation lining. A high precision and difficult operation was achieved without compromise using CD33's.

The new Cor-L drills with their special Zircon coating from Osborn are designed to withstand the most rigorous materials and deliver fantastic performance. They have been used on the composite and harder to machine materials used on ThrustSSC, receiving the praise of Mike Horne and the whole team.
