The Black Rock Desert is 105 miles north of Reno, Nevada, up State Road 447. There are 2 small desert towns, Empire and Gerlach which are reached before you access the desert. We shall be using the two desert access points, 3 miles and 11 miles north of Gerlach on State Road 34.

The best way to get there is by renting your own car. There is a daily transport from Reno ("Reno-Gerlach Stage" ) which does carry passengers. We will be arranging combined tours together with the Peppermill Casino, Reno, with accommodation and luxury coach transport to the Land Speed Record site each day.

The Black Rock is an area of exceptional natural and cultural interests - interests which can be easily damaged by careless use of the desert and its surrounding area. When visting the Black Rock, please read and adhere to the principles of the BLM's resource-preservation programs, Tread Lightly! and Leave No Trace.
