Well, the caption competition in the last issue certainly got you interested! The photo showed Richard Noble unwrapping something with Craig Breedlove looking on. As you can imagine, some of the entries were funny but in the interests of Anglo - American relations were completely unprintable. Never mind, those that were gave us plenty to choose from.
Notable entries were received from Mike Hillier who thought that Richard was saying, "don't look now Craig but Nigel Mansell is standing behind you" and from Mick Thompson who suggested, "I'm sure the ignition keys were in here somewhere." Charles Hilsdon came up with the very topical money related suggestion - "Bloody Hell Craig, I think I've got all 7 numbers on the Lottery this week!" A couple of you came up with natty quips about fitting SSC with a tow bar to give Spirit of America a helping hand, while at least one of you made comments about size that are completely unprintable.
But our favourite is from Mr.R. Green who suggested "Look Craig, when Andy presses the horn he expects you to pull over!" Congratulations - your prize will be on its way to you shortly.
Now that ThrustSSC has begun its test runs at Farnborough and will continue in Jordan, we'd like you to gaze into your crystal ball for this issue's competition. Let us know your prediction of the highest peak speed reached by ThrustSSC this year. Please, only one entry each! In the event of a tie, the winner will be drawn out of a hat, and two winners will each receive one of our new ThrustSSC Polo Shirts!
Send your entry to Mach 1 News Competition at the usual address.
We try our best to get everything right, but given that the administration of the Club is handled by volunteers in between full time jobs and the fact that they are dealing with 4,000 members, then it's inevitable that the odd mistake will get through now and again. So, please will you help us checking your name and address on the envelope in which this Newsletter arrived. Could you also check your membership number - the one that we have recorded for you is the number printed alongside your name.
If you have any changes, please send us your full name and address on a postcard only.
Please write clearly in block capitals and indicate what the changes are. Send to the usual address for the attention of Sara Cook - Sara will then make the changes to our files.
