Individual Status Reports
Car
- ThrustSSC has reached a highest speed through the
measured mile to date of 766mph on Wednesday 15th October 1997, a Mach
number of 1.020
- ThrustSSC set a new Unlimited World Land Speed
Record of 763.035mph on Wednesday 15th October 1997
- The car is now on display with Thrust2 at the Museum of British Road
Transport in Coventry
- It is unlikely that ThrustSSC will ever run again
having achieved the objective of the first ever Supersonic World Land Speed
Record
Team
- The ThrustSSC Team have disbanded, but remain very much in touch with each other

- The continued interest in ThrustSSC and the Web Site have led to a resumption of updates. These will continue on an
occasional basis for the foreseeable future

- Spirit of America has reached a peak speed to date of 675mph on the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA, during the
October 1996 record attempt
- Spirit of America reached a 1997 peak speed of 636mph on the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA, before bad weather
and rising water on the playa ended the team's 1997 campaign
- The Spirit of America Team did not return to the Black Rock Desert from 1998
to 2002
- Plans have been announced to resume the campaign to take the World
Land Speed Record
