Project Status - Al Jafr, Jordan - 8th November 1996

Car

Rework of the low-pressure cooling air ducting has been completed.

Tests have started on the electrical and electronic systems for calibration. Bedding in of the bodywork panels has continued. Application of sponsor's logos to the car has started.

Engine tests in the tie-down cell at Al Jafr airbase will take place tomorrow, and the first desert runs of the car on Al Jafr desert are scheduled for Sunday 10th November.

Desert

The track has been marked out and prepared during the summer by Andrew Noble and the Royal Jordanian Air Force. The remaining task is to ‘de-fod’ the surface - collecting all stones and other debris. This has progressed quickly - tracks 14, 15, 16 and 17 (of a total of seventeen) are completed and tracks 3, 4, and 5 have been done to mile 8. Work continues.
